Study on the Model and Its Visualization for Dynamic Allocation of Earth

Strategic Study of CAE 2003, Volume 5, Issue 12,   Pages 73-79

Abstract:

For construction organization plan, the optimized allocation and overall balance of earth is of great significance to reduce the project cost and ensure the construction period in the construction of rock-fill dam. Because of the characteristic of being influenced or constrained by time-space, a new method of changing its dynamic into static is presented with the system analysis based on the exising research. Meanwhile, Linear Programming is introduced to solve the problem. In order to strengthen the commonness and agility of model, some human interventions are in an in-depth and particular consideration in building the mathematics model. And then for the expression of results, Geographic Information System (GIS) is referred to demonstrate the allocation process with graph or animation to avoid its powerless expression. With the help of powerful VC+ + , corresponding software is drawn up, whose interface is friendly operation is easy and applicability is preferable. At last a large-scale rock-fill dam is illustrated. The successful application of the software to it shows the reasonability and effectiveness of the method.

Frontiers of Medicine 2018, Volume 12, Issue 1,   Pages 23-33 doi: 10.1007/s11684-017-0607-7

Abstract:

Two decades have passed since the first bacterial whole-genome sequencing, which provides new opportunity for microbial genome. Consequently, considerable genetic diversity encoded by bacterial genomes and among the strains in the same species has been revealed. In recent years, genome sequencing techniques and bioinformatics have developed rapidly, which has resulted in transformation and expedited the application of strategy and methodology for bacterial genome comparison used in dissection of infectious disease epidemics. Bacterial whole-genome sequencing and bioinformatic computing allow genotyping to satisfy the requirements of epidemiological study in disease control. In this review, we outline the significance and summarize the roles of bacterial genome sequencing in the context of bacterial disease control and prevention. We discuss the applications of bacterial genome sequencing in outbreak detection, source tracing, transmission mode discovery, and new epidemic clone identification. Wide applications of genome sequencing and data sharing in infectious disease surveillance networks will considerably promote outbreak detection and early warning to prevent the dissemination of bacterial diseases.

Visualization of amino acid composition differences between processed protein from different animal species

Xingfan ZHOU,Zengling YANG,Longjian CHEN,Lujia HAN

Frontiers of Agricultural Science and Engineering 2016, Volume 3, Issue 2,   Pages 171-179 doi: 10.15302/J-FASE-2016095

Abstract: Amino acids are the dominant organic components of processed animal proteins, however there has been limited investigation of differences in their composition between various protein sources. Information on these differences will not only be helpful for their further utilization but also provide fundamental information for developing species-specific identification methods. In this study, self-organizing feature maps (SOFM) were used to visualize amino acid composition of fish meal, and meat and bone meal (MBM) produced from poultry, ruminants and swine. SOFM display the similarities and differences in amino acid composition between protein sources and effectively improve data transparency. Amino acid composition was shown to be useful for distinguishing fish meal from MBM due to their large concentration differences between glycine, lysine and proline. However, the amino acid composition of the three MBMs was quite similar. The SOFM results were consistent with those obtained by analysis of variance and principal component analysis but more straightforward. SOFM was shown to have a robust sample linkage capacity and to be able to act as a powerful means to link different sample for further data mining.

Visualization of force networks in 2D dense granular materials

Jianguo LIU, Qicheng SUN, Feng JIN,

Frontiers of Structural and Civil Engineering 2010, Volume 4, Issue 1,   Pages 109-115 doi: 10.1007/s11709-010-0003-8

Abstract: Dense granular matter is a conglomeration of discrete solid and closely packed particles. As subjected to external loadings, the stress is largely transmitted by heavily stressed chains of particles forming a sparse network of larger contact forces. To understand the structure and evolution of force chains, a photoelastic technique was improved for determining stresses and strains in the assemblies of photoelastic granular disks in this paper. A two-dimensional vertical slab was designed. It contains 7200 polydispersed photoelastic disks and is subjected to a localized probe penetrating at the top of the slab to mimic the cone penetration test. The interparticle contact force distribution was found a peak around the mean value, a roughly exponential tail for greater force and a dip toward zero for smaller force. The force chain network around the probe tip was depicted, and the contact angle distribution of particles in force chains was found to be well aligned in the directions of major principal stress.
